Privacy Policy
Garage Monkey PRO, operated by Brian Vanderford ("Garage Monkey PRO," "we," "our," or "us"), provides Android vehicle-diagnostic software and related website and support services.
Information processed by the app
- Vehicle information such as VIN, year, make, model, mileage, diagnostic trouble codes, readiness status, freeze-frame values, live PID values, service history, and report metadata.
- Adapter information such as Bluetooth name or address, USB device details, firmware responses, protocol settings, and connection logs.
- Camera images selected for Part Identifier. This feature processes label text and barcodes on the Android device unless the user separately chooses to share or export an image.
- Microphone audio submitted to Android's speech-recognition service when the user activates voice commands. Garage Monkey PRO does not continuously record in the background.
- Google Play purchase and entitlement status used to activate paid features.
How information is used
Information is used to perform diagnostics requested by the user, identify vehicles, display scan results, generate reports and estimates, restore purchases, provide support, and operate optional backup or synchronization selected by the user.
Local and cloud storage
App workspace data is stored locally by default. Optional cloud sync transmits selected workspace and diagnostic data to the endpoint configured by the user. Users should not enable cloud sync with an endpoint they do not trust.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data may be sent to Google Play Billing, Android speech services, an optional cloud endpoint configured by the user, or a destination the user explicitly selects through export, print, share, supplier lookup, or support actions.
Permissions
Bluetooth and Nearby Devices permissions support compatible wireless adapters. USB host access supports wired adapters. Microphone access is used only after the voice-command button is activated. Camera capture is initiated by the user for Part Identifier.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until deleted in the app, Android storage is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. Optional cloud records follow the retention controls of the configured cloud endpoint. See the data deletion instructions.
Children
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Security
Reasonable technical controls are used, but no storage or transmission method is guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for securing their devices, accounts, API keys, and configured cloud endpoints.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date will be revised when material updates are published.
